Third generation organ builder entered the firm in 1966, following several years of summer work assisting in tuning  and maintenance.  Worked closely with his father learning all aspects of the business and with Mr. Turpin in the craft of voicing and tonal finishing.  Has managed the company since the retirement of Ivan P. Morel in 1980.  Responsible for overall operations, planning, and tonal work of the firm.  Member of the American Institute of Organ builders, American Guild of Organists, and Organ Historical Society.

Richard I. Morel

B.A., University of Colorado 1971.  Don joined the firm in 1973 following the complete renovation and installation of a three manual, 22 stop, Wurlitzer Theater organ in the residence of Dr. Bruce Belshaw, Englewood, Colorado.  Organ builder with over 40 years experience, specializing in engineering, layout and console design.

Joe Townsend

Joe joined Morel & Associates in March of 2013 after receiving his associate degree in Fine Woodworking at Red Rocks Community College. His first undertaking with Morel was the two-year rebuild of the historic Roosevelt Opus 382 organ. Although Joe specializes in woodworking and finishing at Morel, his experience includes many dedicated hours in the field, tuning and servicing pipe organs across the Rocky Mountain region. In his free time, Joe enjoys working on and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and spending time outdoors hiking and camping.

Ben Schreckengost

B.F.A., Kent State University 2006. Ben joined Morel & Associates in the spring of 2015 after completing a reed voicing apprenticeship with A. R. Schopp’s in Alliance, Ohio. Ben worked at Schopp’s from 2006 until moving to Denver in 2015. Working closely with David Schopp, Ben learned every aspect of re-voicing old stops as well as voicing new stops that Schopp’s manufactured. While working at Schopp’s, Ben also learned how to flame copper for various reed and flue stops that were sent all over the world. In his free time, Ben enjoys many hobbies including mushroom hunting and identification, competitive disc golfing, hiking, paddle boarding, art making, and playing with his dog Liz.
